In late 2023, bitcoin was added to the Cartwright asset class list for trustee consideration by all trustees and sponsoring employers. True to their role as diligent trustees, they expressed a desire to learn more.

Approval: We gave comprehensive training sessions to the Trustee board, including focused sessions on how it might specifically fit with their investment strategy and objectives. Multiple decision-makers needed to be convinced and, importantly, reach a consensus.

These stages took place throughout 2024 and, in August, we received final approval from the parent employer, allowing implementation to begin.

Criteria: A specific set of criteria and guidelines was established and agreed with the scheme in advance for this allocation, including; rebalancing rules to trim profits, and all tailored to meet their objectives and comfort levels. Crucially, this rebalancing framework eliminates any emotional decision-making.
